Letter To Mr. Costello

.: So in my day to day living as a designer I get to see horrible design way more then great design. I'm just hyper sensitive about it. It's my job. So when I saw this post I just couldn't help myself.. My co-worker and I decided to take action and express ourselves to the creator of the most unholy of all typefaces, Papyrus.

Dear Mr. Costello,

On behalf of DEEP (Designers for the Ethical Euthanasia of Papyrus), we would like to take time out of our busy schedules to inform you that you are the worst thing to happen to the field of graphic design since MS Publisher. Your typefaces have been used in some of the worst designs that our eyes have been exposed to. Papyrus, the most "popular" of your collection, is neither timeless nor elegant. When we asked those who have used it "Why", the general response is that it's organic and there is a lack of alternatives. When shown an alternative, 98% chose to go away from Papyrus. We hope that you will never design another typeface again and may you seek forgiveness for all your design sins.

The End of My Time At Sticky

.: After working as a graphic designer for Sticky Inc for 5 weeks, I took off. My boss Sol was needless to say shocked about my choice, but we never talked about my future and I wasn't "feeling" it there. I was producing design I wasn't happy with and coming home almost every night pissed or dead.. My last week there was frickin great though.. When you stop caring and just ride things out, it's really nice. I got along better with my co-workers and started to enjoy work, but only because I knew it wouldn't matter in a couple days.

.: The team at Sticky will go far, and I am happy that I was part of it for the short time I was.. They have drive and good leadership. Look for their product soon! I wish I could say what I worked on, but alas, until they launch I can't... It'll be kewl though..
